Minecraft 2: Remake Progress Update

okay so… this is going to sound completely insane, but hear me out.
remember Minecraft 2: Egbert Edition? the one that everyone swore was fake, and then some guy uploaded a .rar that allegedly broke three dreamcasts and a microwave? Yeah, that one.
well, i’m remaking it.
not like, officially or anything. this is more of a fan restoration project (I guess?), but I’ve actually managed to get the original 2009 alpha build running on modern browsers. It only crashes sometimes now. huge improvement!
i’m rebuilding it in HTML5 + JavaScript because I have a moral obligation to name everything after programming languages I barely understand. The remake includes:
- working skybox that occasionally flickers between dimensions
- playable egbert skin (obviously)
- blocks that remember every action you’ve ever taken
The plan is to finish a “beta” version before June 12th, 2026. I’d like to host it on Neocities, assuming it doesn’t explode the servers again.
If anyone out there has the minecraft2_egbert_final_fix.rar file intact, please email me. (Don’t open it though. Or unzip it. Or look directly at it.)
anyway, that’s the update! i’ll post screenshots soon once i figure out how to make the creepers stop quoting sweet bro and hella jeff.
